Eminem released a full track for the movie Southpaw, which has a star-studded cast about a boxing legend named Billy “The Great” Hope, played by Jake Gyllenhaal.
The role of Hope has been cited in Rolling Stone to have been a role written for Eminem, until he was replaced with Gyllenhaal after Em decided to focus on The Marshall Mathers LP 2 instead of star in his first role since his movie 8 Mile.
According to the press release, Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg said “We have been involved in developing Southpaw since its inception and Eminem has dedicated himself to ensuring that this film captured his passion for the project through his music. We've assembled a great soundtrack to accompany what's sure to be one of the finest boxing films ever.”
Other stars staring movie are Forest Witaker as a comeback trainer, Rita Ora, Rachel McAdams as the love interest, and 50 Cent as his former manager.
The song, along with the trailer have both been released, as well as a commercial for Dr. Dre's Beats audio products that features NBA player Draymond Green and the song "Phenomenal."
