5 Things You Need To Know In Pop Culture Today! (Dec. 30)

Here's a rundown of what's in the Pop Culture news this morning, corralled and curated for your viewing pleasure!

Carrie Fisher Has Choice Words For Body Shamers

We're hurting Carrie Fisher's 3 feelings when we talk about her appearance, and she wants you to know it. Many have criticized her look since Star Wars: The Force Awakens released, mostly because of her aging. As many people are so used to her in the "Slave Leia" outfit, I guess people figured she'd stay that same Leia. Well, she doesn't care what you think -  and though we won't embed the tweet due to some semi-vulgar language, NME reports that she basically says "back off." We're with you Carrie!

Kanye West Named GQ's Most Stylish Man

After a long bracket fight, so it seems, Kanye West beats out heavy hitters like Jared Leto and David Beckham for the top spot of most stylish. Billboard cites GQ's opinion as follows: "His elevated, athletic-inspired aesthetic is part of the reason the athleisure look hit critical mass this year (even landing the word in the dictionary). Plus, West's own wardrobe is studied, tracked, and blogged about with an amount of fervor usually reserved for female stars (like the rapper/designer's own headline-grabbing wife)." Let's just hope he doesn't have to accept an award in person... Then again, I could use a good 20-minute Kanye acceptance speech right about now.

Leo Turns Down All Of The Mystical Roles

Come to find out, we could have been spared the painful performance from Hayden Christensen from Star Wars Episode 1-3 if Leonardo DiCaprio would have just said yes. It's true! Leo was offered the role of Anakin Skywalker, and chose to not take the role. NME reports he also turned down the possibles for Robin in Batman Forever and Tobey Maguire's Spiderman. Well, let's hope that this time, The Revenant wins him that Oscar.

Coldplay, Beyonce, and Rihanna - OH MY!

According to NME, Coldplay might be rocking out with Beyonce and Rihanna at the Super Bowl. "Chris and his band know they’re not typically as showy as recent performers like Katy Perry and Madonna with all the dancers and, while they love a light show, they still want to bring a few surprises out," says a source to The Daily Mirror (according to NME). That could definitely liven things up - as Coldplay can be sort of easy listening, in a sense. Plus, we still expect Bruno Mars to pop up somewhere in there.

Amy Cooper is a writer and pop culture fact nerd, and on multiple occasions has been referred to as a “Walking iPod.”
