Fox News is busy trying to clean up a PR mess after they showed a pic of Patti Labelle during a story about Aretha Franklin’s death.

The network apologized to the family and friends saying that she was accidentally cropped out of the original picture.

“We sincerely apologize to Aretha Franklin’s family and friends,” spokeswoman Jessica Santostefano said in a statement to HuffPost. “Our intention was to honor the icon using a secondary image of her performing with Patti LaBelle in the full screen graphic, but the image of Ms. Franklin was obscured in that process, which we deeply regret.”

Unfortunately, after further investigation, the Twitterverse discovered that Aretha never performed with Patti at that time. Check out the tweets below:
