Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine says Hip-Hop is more innovative than any other genre.

In an interview with Variety, Levine says that his band has always looked up to Hip-Hop and R&B music. Levine calls Hip-Hop “weird and avant-garde and flawed and real,” he also says that’s why people love it.

Levine hopes to find inspiration in Hip-Hop and hopes to use the inspiration as a way to make music that will be timeless, “My main criteria for a song is, can I live with it forever? And if I can’t, I just don’t have the heart to do it. It’s that simple.”
