Alexa's name was called so much on Christmas day, she couldn't handle it.

 With so many people presumably receiving an Echo smart speaker on the holiday, the servers in Europe became overloaded and Alexa was not working. The voice told users, "Sorry, I'm having trouble understanding you right now."

Amazon's customer service tweeted Tuesday, "some Echo devices in Europe have had intermittent connections." The issue was resolved as Christmas continued.
