Documents obtained by Pitchfork state that the copyright infringement lawsuit had been settled. British-Liberian artist Lina Iris Viktor filed the suit in February saying that elements of her art series, “Constellations" was used in the “All The Stars” video. Viktor sued Lamar and SZA for undisclosed damages and an injunction prohibiting the use of her work in the Black Panther movie.

Lamar and SZA were dismissed from the lawsuit after their lawyers argued that the success of the song had no bearing on the art used in the video. Viktor had previously been contacted by a Marvel set director about the use of her art for ‘Black Panther’ but it was never solidified. Do you think Viktor was looking for a payday or do you think she had a reason to sue?
