What does Pottery Barn and Missy Elliott have in common?

The furniture retailer has recently used Missy Elliott’s “Work It” to sell sofas and sectionals, as pointed out by Hip Hop DX.

The single comes from Elliott’s 2002 album Under Construction, and some of the lyrics are front and center of Pottery Barn’s marketing copy.

“Flip It, Switch It, Reverse It,” reads Pottery Barn’s small spaces section referencing the rapper/singer/producer/songwriter’s multi-platinum selling song.

The track was produced by Elliott’s longtime collaborator and friend Timbaland. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart in 2002.
