On Tuesday, Chris Brown’s mother, Joyce Hawkins took to Instagram to defend her son after he was accused of colorism due to problematic lyrics in his song, “Need a Stack,” which is featured on his newly released album, Indigo.

Hawkins questioned the validity of Breezy’s controversy making headlines. “Headline News!!!! Hair!!! Seriously???! Now what has this world come to??????” she wrote in a post that she shared on both her IG story and timeline.

As we reported earlier today, the track, which features Lil Wayne and Joyner Lucas, contains the lyrics, “Only wanna f**k the black b**ches with the nice hair.”

Twitter users pointed out the lyrics and Chris Brown caught wind of it causing the “Loyal” singer to respond with fury and his own sense of humor.

Brown joked about the criticism in the comment section of The Shade Room on Instagram. “HAAAAAAA,” he wrote on one comment. “Y’all trippin trippin. Y’all b**ches don’t wanna f**k da n***a with fu**ed up teeth do you??? Only b**ches upset is the uglies (not the black queens).”

Oop! #ChrisBrown had some words for the folks who did not take kindly to his line about the black women he prefers in his new song #NeedAStack ????

Brown also came up with a “challenge” for “all the angry uglies that’s mad” at what he said. “Post a picture of what you look like, please,” Brown said in a video that was shared on Instagram.

Hawkins seemed to have some support of her defending her son. “Momma Joyce, you know when your Angel is winning the devil tries to bring him down! Be his light and his strength and don’t feed into the negativity. He’s winning, ya’ll winning and that’s what matters,” one Instagram user named @xJenny21x wrote.

“The ones with low self-esteem are usually the first to get offended. He has been killing the game for years and will continue to kill it, these naysayers ain’t sh*t.”

“They’ll find anything negative to bother him about.. But love and positivity overpowers the hate.. #TeamBreezyForLife,” another IG user, @msaireal wrote.
