Octavia Spencer is starring in the forthcoming Netflix series inspired by Madam C.J. Walker. Entitled Self Made: Inspired By The Life of Madam C. J. Walker, the series is centered around America’s first woman self-made millionaire, African American hair care entrepreneur, as Deadline reports.

Self Made is inspired by the book On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C. J. Walker, which was written by the trailblazer’s great-great-granddaughter A’Lelia Bundles.

In Self Made, Oscar-winning actress Spencer portrays Sarah Breedlove, known as Madam C. J. Walker. Starring alongside Spencer is Blaire Underwood as her husband and Tiffany Haddish as her daughter Lelia.

Carmen Ejogo will portray Walker’s business rival Addie Munroe while Garrett Morris will play Walker’s father-in-law and Kevin Carroll will portray her longtime lawyer Freeman Ransom. Bill Bellamy will star as Ransom’s cousin named Sweetness.

Self Made will debut on Netflix on March 20.
