BATH, UNITED KINGDOM - DECEMBER 29: Frost lingers on a headstone in a cemetery near Bath on December 29, 2014 in Bath and North East Somerset, England. According to the Met Office Britain experienced the coldest night of the year overnight, with some areas being even colder than Alaska and the Antarctica and as forecasters believe it could get even colder tonight, a Met Office cold weather alert for northern England and the Midlands has warned of health risks for vulnerable people. You heard us talking about this on air this morning. Singer-songwriter David Olney has died at age 71. He was performing at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Florida Saturday night when he dropped his head mid performance and just sat in silence. Some reports were that he collapsed but others said he just sat in silence until they figured out what happened. According to a witness: “Olney was in the middle of his third song when he stopped, apologized, and shut his eyes. He was very still, sitting upright with his guitar on, wearing the coolest hat and a beautiful rust suede jacket we laughed about because it was raining like hell outside the boathouse where we were playing — I just want the picture to be as graceful and dignified as it was, because it at first looked like he was just taking a moment.”
Doctors in the audience were unable to revive him.
