Missy Elliott told Pepsi to bring in Timbaland for her Super Bowl commercial collabo with H.E.R.! That explains the fire beats!

According to People, Missy Elliott told them, “Pepsi said, ‘Hey, we’re doing a Pepsi Zero Sugar commercial and we want you to be a part of it, with H.E.R.’ and then I mentioned having Timbaland come in to do the beat.”

H.E.R. told People that she’s always been a Missy Elliott fan. “Every Missy video, when I was a kid watching them, was memorable.  It was always unique. It was always different and that’s kinda what I took from Missy growing up — individuality, and uniqueness. She’s so clever and it was just mind-boggling because you’ve never seen anything like Missy Elliott’s videos. There’s nothing else out there like it.”  Read more here.

If the song sounds familiar, it’s a rework of “Paint It Black” by the Rolling Stones.  Timbaland tricked it out nicely!

Zero Sugar. Done Right. :30 | Pepsi

Pepsi Zero Sugar is looking better than ever, and we're reintroducing it to the world with a new take on an iconic track featuring Missy Elliott and H.E.R. Since Pepsi Zero Sugar packs the same refreshing taste of Pepsi that people love, without any of the sugar, we needed a song just as uncompromising.

Missy Elliott captioned this tweet with: “I’m unapologetic and I do my own thing… thanks to @HERMusicx…and @Pepsi made it happen.”

H.E.R. said is this tweet, “I got to collab with @MissyElliott thanks to @pepsi!!! Check it out!”

Missy Elliott’s throwback “Lose Control” is featured in a different Pepsi commercial that came out earlier this month called, “The Fade Away.”  I saw it a few times when I was watching the NFL playoff games.

Dance like no one's watching (even when everyone's watching)

Go Missy! Go H.E.R.! Go Timbo!  And, since I can’t say, “Go Pats” for this year’s Super Bowl (insert crying emoji here), “Go Jimmy G!”
