I know I’m not the only one who is enraged by hearing another story of a student being forced to cut their hair to comply with a dress code school policy.  DeAndre Arnold from Texas is standing his ground and Ellen is trying to get his future off to a great start.

Watch as DeAndre explains how his hair is violating his school’s policy and why it’s important to him to keep it the way it is.  Before Alicia Keys comes out to surprise him with the $20,000 check, DeAndre tells Ellen that he wants to go to college to be a veterinarian.  I hope that this interview will change the school’s mind and allow DeAndre back to school in his regular classes and let him walk across the stage at graduation.

Ellen Pleads for Student's Return to School After Dress Code Controversy

Ellen welcomed Texas high school senior DeAndre Arnold, who made national news after he was told by school officials that he had to cut off his dreadlocks in order to return to classes. DeAndre talked with Ellen about how he's not allowed to walk at graduation and why he has stood his ground and has not given in to their policy.
