As we reported, Janet Jackson announced an upcoming album and tour were coming this year, and she went on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to give fans insight on the upcoming Black Diamond experience.  Janet explains the meaning behind the title, Black Diamond, saying, “It’s the toughest of the stones, of the diamonds to cut. I heard that immediately as hard to hurt, to destroy. And in my recent years, I’ve come to realize that I’m incredibly strong. ” Jackson adds, “I see myself as this rock, you know, rough around the edges. And I just want to share some of my strengths and stories.”

She also shared that her three-year-old son already has some of her talents. “He’s incredibly musical. First, it was the violin, and he loves classical music. First day of school, he took the violin to school. Third day of school he said, ‘Mama I want to take a cello to school,’ and I said, ‘Baby you don’t have a cello.'” She then described how her assistant turned the violin into a cello.

Later in the interview, Janet reveals the story behind her song “Nasty.” Watch the interview below.
