A Nipsey Hussle documentary is coming to Netflix, and it’s directed by Oscar-nominated director Ava Duvernay, as Deadline reports. The film will be co-produced by both Duvernay’s ARRAY banner and Hussle’s Marathon Films.

Netflix secured the documentary following an intense bidding war that was hosted by¬†CAA. This project will mark Duvernay’s first return to documentaries since the Los Angeles native directed the highly lauded 13th.

The collaboration comes less than a year following Hussle’s tragic death, last March. The “Victory Lap” rapper was fatally shot in South Los Angeles outside of his apparel store, The Marathon Clothing.
