Up and coming rapper Pop Smoke was fatally shot on Wednesday (Feb. 19) in what appeared to be a home invasion robbery, as TMZ reports.
According to law enforcement, the Brooklyn rapper was at his home in the Hollywood Hills around 4:30 a.m. when two males wearing hoodies and masks broke into Smoke’s home.

The two assailants fired multiple shots, hitting and fatally wounding Smoke. They were also seen fleeing on foot.
The 20-year-old rapper was rushed via ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The suspects haven’t been identified or captured. It’s currently unclear whether or not Pop Smoke knew the two males.

One man was apprehended by police, however, law enforcement determined that he wasn’t involved and he was released. Last year, the rapper had a hit with “Welcome to the Party.” A few months later, Nicki Minaj did a remix of the song. Pop Smoke has also collaborated with Travis Scott on “Gatti.”
