LOS ANGELES - AUGUST 9: (L-R) Jill Scott and Erykah Badu perform as part of the Sugar Water Festival at the Greek Theatre on August 9, 2005 in Los Angeles, California.

“It’s time for the queens to represent,” Swizz Beatz said on Instagram on Friday (May 1), in the caption of a post where the producer announced a “Verzuz” battle between Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.

The soul songstresses will be the first women to participate in the popular Instagram Live battle series created by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.

Scott and Badu will go head to head on Saturday (May 9), the day before Mother’s Day at 7 p.m. ET.

The battle between Scott and Badu is also a part of Live Nation’s “Femme It Forward” series, which is about “celebrating the depth, power, and talent of women in music & entertainment.”
