What today’s statewide face covering means for you
Today’s the day. An executive order that requires the public to wear a face covering while in public when social distancing is not possible goes into effect today. The only groups of people that are exempt are, anyone under the age of 2 OR anyone who has a medical condition where wearing a mask isn’t possible.
The Department of Public Health and local boards of health will enforce the measure, with help from local and state police. Anyone violating the order can face a civil penalty of up to $300 per violation, the order says.
Also any business may decline entry to anyone not wearing a mask.
Also, medical grade masks are NOT encouraged. “Medical-grade masks should be reserved for health care workers and first responders,” the order said.
Bottom line, wear your mask in public or be subject to a fine or denied entry into a business. And DON’T wear medical grade masks unless you work in the medical field.
