Poker player wins $10,000 bet that coronavirus death toll would hit 100K by September
While we just reached a grim milestone in the US with over 100,000 coronavirus deaths, one man has just capitalized on it. Chris Hunichen, who has won over $20 million from poker in his lifetime, issued a challenge to Twitter a month and a half ago. He wanted to take the over on 100,000 deaths from COVID-19 in the U.S. by Sept. 1. People immediately lashed out at him saying how insensitive his post was. At that time, projections were far less than 100,000 but Chris was adamant that there would be more. And unfortunately he was right.
100k deaths hit with 3 months to spare! Sad to see but on the positive the deadly cases seem to be going down each day! For the money won on the feeding the homeless bets I will be matching the total 100% and donating dollar for dollar! pic.twitter.com/PInIRRnjeG
