The Marshfield Fair may be canceled this year, but they're going to use the fairgrounds as a drive-in movie theater!
According to CBS Boston, the Marshfield Fair organizer Lenny LaForest, who is president of the Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society, said that if everything goes according to plan, the drive-in theater will open Father’s Day weekend and run through the fall.
The Marshfield Fair announced the cancellation of the festivities in a Facebook post this week:
"The health and safety of our fairgoers, our volunteers, our staff, and our community is of utmost importance to us. Due to the current health pandemic, the directors of the Marshfield Fair have voted to cancel the 2020 fair. We look forward to seeing you all at the 2021 Marshfield Fair."
The pop up drive-in movie theater on the fairgrounds is a creative use of the space allowing people a place to go during social distancing practices due to the coronavirus. They haven't posted anything official yet about the upcoming drive-in theater hours or protocols, but you can keep an eye out for more info on their website here.
