BERLIN, GERMANY – MAY 04: A sixth grader wears a protective face mask as she attends class for the first time since March at the GutsMuths Grundschule elementary school during the novel coronavirus crisis on May 4, 2020 in Berlin, Germany. Across Germany tenth graders began returning to school last week and elementary school pupils are returning this week in cautious steps to reopen schools that have been closed since March as authorities lift lockdown measures that had been imposed to stem the spread of the virus. The state has provided guidance for Massachusetts schools to reopen in the fall and everyone is talking about them. All students and staff must wear face masks or coverings, unless they cannot due to age or a condition.  Desks must be at least six feet apart and students and staff must also keep six feet of distance from one another.  Schools must purchase their own back up supply of masks, gloves, gowns, face shields etc. The guidance also includes frequent hand-washing and disinfecting surfaces, as well as enhanced protocols for enforcing students and staff staying home if sick.

As you can expect there is a lot of opposition to the new suggestions. A petition has been created urging Gov. Charlie Baker to allow students to return to school without masks or social distancing. As of this morning over 30,000 parents have signed it. To sign it, CLICK HERE
