Most Americans would likely rate airline meals somewhere between hospital grub and convenience store rotisserie food. But, apparently, Israelis love the stuff.

So much so that an airline food supplier in Israel has started selling in-flight meals to the public — and they don’t need to board a flight to eat it.

The owners of Tamam Kitchen, the food supplier, came up with the idea as a means to stay in business during the pandemic. “We have to rethink and reinvent ourselves,” says Tamam Vice President Nimrod Demajo.

The microwavable meals, which start at $3 a tray, are being advertised with the slogan, “Fly to order!”

Since the company became consumer-friendly in July, chicken and beef have been the two most popular meals, Demaio says.
