According to the National Hurriane Center, Hurricane Laura is bringing a Catastrophic storm surge, extreme winds and flash flooding in portions of Louisiana. The storm made landfall early Thursday as a Category 4 hurricane, with winds of 150 m.p.h., but was downgraded as it swept inland. Hundreds of thousands of people were without power. Laura is now considered one of the most powerful storms to hit the US.
As far as Laura's track, it is expected to curl north and head back east in the coming days. Early predictions show remnants of Laura coming to the Boston area on Saturday bringing thunderstorms and lots of rain.
