Former Ellen staffers say her “apology” wasn’t good enough
The Ellen show began its 18th season yesterday afternoon. Ellen was back in the studio for the first time in months surrounded by a virtual audience. Right away, she addressed the investigation that took place after being accused of having a toxic working environment saying they’re ready for a fresh start.
She went on to say she’s a work in progress, she’s constantly trying to improve herself followed by an apology to those she’s hurt.
So was the apology enough? A few of those former employees who filed complaints against the show say Ellen’s entire monologue missed the mark adding they felt she wasn’t taking it seriously enough. One former employee said “Not only did Ellen turn my trauma…into a joke, she somehow managed to make this about her.” Other employees say they wish someone from Warner Brothers would have reached out to them directly instead of having Ellen address it on air for ratings with no follow up.
