Barstool Sports Owner Dave Portnoy Raises Millions to Help Small Businesses
Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, has decided to take matters into his own hands. Back in December, he announced the launch of “The Barstool Fund” to support small businesses that are struggling due to COVID-19 lockdowns.
In a tweet on December 17, Portnoy introduced the fund with information on how to submit stories in order to be considered. He first donated $500k himself, which then sparked donations from over 208,000 other people. As of today, January 29th, the fund has now reached over $33 million dollars for over 198 businesses with no indication of slowing down.
