Massachusetts native, Stephanie Wilson, made history in 2006 when she became the second African American woman to go into space, according to NBC 10 Boston. She was a part of the Space Shuttle Discovery crew on a 13-day flight.

In 2024, NASA aims to land the first woman and the next man on the Moon with the Artemis Plan. Wilson, a Boston-born NASA astronaut, is a part of that program. In just a few short years, she could become the first woman to walk on the moon.
