I don't know about you all, but I feel like I really need the last two months of my life back. The Bachelor is really starting to turn into the dating show that never works. The finale was last night and we’re no closer to finding Matt James a wife than we were three months ago when the show premiered. There were spoilers out before last night’s show and they were all true. Matt sent home Michelle and then, having a heart to heart with his mom realized he wasn’t ready for marriage quite yet. So at the end of the show we saw Matt pick Rachael but tell her he wasn’t ready to propose just yet but that he did see himself marrying her and her being the mother of his kids…so the ending was happy sort of. But then as you know there are a few months that go by between the end of filming and the finale so all the racist drama where some of Rachael’s social media posts were brought up unfolded during that time period. And durin the “After the Final Rose” special, Matt was asked if he and Rachael were still together and he said "No."

Then Rachael came out and was able to speak to Matt for the first time face to face since their breakup and Matt explained why he came to the decision he did.

"You hear things that are heartbreaking and you pray they're not true. And then when you find out they are it makes you question everything," Matt says. "I wasn't OK because it was in that moment and that conversation (that I realized) Rachael might not understand what it means to be Black in America. When I questioned our relationship, it was on the context of you not fully understanding my Blackness, and what it means for me to be a Black man in America, and what it would mean for our kids."

So after that entire season, Matt is still single and looking for love. And a quick side note, we found out they’ve selected two women for the next two seasons of the Bachelorette: Michelle who was Matt’s runner up and Katie who was also in Matt’s season and was a fan favorite. Her season will start filming later this month and will debut in the summer.
