Verda Tetteh just graduated from Fitchburg High, and is headed to Harvard to study chemistry. She was awarded the General Excellence Award during graduation, which comes with a $40,000 scholarship.
After hearing the school’s assistant principal speak about being selfless and doing the right thing, Verda decided to give away the money. She said that she’s received a significant amount of help with her college expenses, and with her mother having gone to community college, she wanted the school to consider giving the scholarship to someone going to community college.
