Whether you’re looking for a day trip or a road trip for a summer vacation destination, one of the best cities for summer “vaxcation” is only 50 miles from Boston, according to a new survey.
Providence, RI came in third on LawnStarter’s ranking, with San Francisco and Portland, Oregon scoring just above.
But what is a “vaxcation?” Simply put, it’s a vacation for the vaccinated, according to survey authors.
The ranking compared the 200 biggest U.S. cities based on 30 key metrics. They looked into costs, Airbnb rates, the weather, and, of course, each city’s vaccination rate, among other indicators of a fun (and relatively low-risk) summer break.
Providence got the bronze medal due to its ease of getting around, and scoring high in the dining & drinking categories, as well as the “having fun” rank.
Now if you’d rather opt for a staycation vaxcation, Boston came in 13th, which isn’t too bad either.
