Chucky Thompson, Hip-Hop Producer Behind Notorious B.I.G. Dies at 53
Chucky Thompson, a legendary hip-hop producer has died. He was 53.
Thompson was known for producing with hip-hop’s largest acts including the late Notorious B.I.G., Diddy, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, and Kanye West.
Tamar Juda, Thompson’s publicist, confirmed his passing in a statement per USA Today.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I can confirm the passing of Chucky Thompson,” she wrote. “To anyone in his orbit, you know how generous he was with his energy, creativity and love. Both the music industry, and the world has lost a titan.”
Legendary engineer Young Guru wrote a touching tribute on Instagram to his “mentor” who “changed his life forever.”

The cause of death has not been officially been revealed but radio personality Donnie Simpson tweeted out that it’s possible that Thompson could have died from COVID complications.
