A slice of the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles 1981 wedding cake has been auctioned for $2,565.

According to cnbc.com, Gerry Layton (a private collector from Leeds, England) purchased the slice through Dominic Winter Auctioneers located in Cirencester, England.

The auction house stated,

“It appears to be in exactly the same good condition as when originally sold, but we advise against eating it. We were amazed at the numbers of people wanting to bid on this large and unique piece of royal cake icing.”

The icing layer on the slice of cake has been preserved in cling film inside a cake tin for the last 40 years.

Take a look below at what it looks like today!
