M.A.C. Cosmetics is honoring the late Whitney Houston as it has inked a long-term partnership with her estate per PEOPLE.

This collaboration is timed to coincide with Houston’s new biopic, with the working title, I Wanna Dance with Somebody (named after Houston’s famous 1987 hit), which is set to release December 23, 2022, M.A.C. is tasked with recreating Houston’s most memorable beauty looks for the film.

“The idea that is coming to fruition now is something Whitney always wanted to do,” Whitney’s sister-in-law and former manager, Pat Houston, told PEOPLE of the M.A.C. Cosmetics collection. “I’m pleased we can do something that I know she would have loved. We are just starting on this collaboration but exciting things are coming!”

The music icon was known for the shape and texture of her hairstyles often sporting a shortcut with voluminous curls. She also was known for playing with color with neon eyeshadow looks in the ’80s later turning to soft glam complemented by a brown or red lip.

“Whitney was always a champion of women feeling beautiful whether it was a major event or just for everyday wear, our work with M.A.C. is about creating a line that can meet all of those needs. The line will be true to her colors that she loved to work with,” Pat shared, adding that Whitney “loved working with colors on the lips and eyes, that iconic red lip was always a favorite of hers.”

The global cosmetics brand will continue to honor the music icon through upcoming projects, which will be announced in the future.
