Chris Brown, Drake Sued For Copyright Infringement Over ‘No Guidance’
Chris Brown and Drake are being sued for copyright infringement over their 2019 hit, “No Guidance.”
Brandon Cooper and Timothy Valentine, who go by the stage names Mr. Cooper and Drum’n Skillz, are claiming that Brown and Drake ripped off their track called “I Love Your Dress” that dropped in 2016.
In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Cooper, and Valentine “claim that after an analysis of the beat, lyrics, hook and rhythmic structure demonstrates that ‘No Guidance’ was copied or, at the very least, principally derived from ‘I Love Your Dress.'”
They specifically mention the lyrics “She got it; she got it” in “I Love Your Dress” and “You got it, girl; you got it” in “No Guidance” which is repeated multiple times in both songs.
Cooper and Valentine claim that Brown and Drake exploited “I Love Your Dress” and mocked them with the lyric about “flew the coop,” a play on Cooper’s nickname, Coop.
The singer and producer are suing for copyright infringement. Brown and Drake have yet to make a statement about the suit.
