Kanye West Legally Changes Full Name To ‘Ye’
LOS ANGELES, CA - AUGUST 30: Vanguard Award winner Kanye West speaks onstage during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards at Microsoft Theater on August 30, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.
You can just call him “Ye.”
Kanye Omari West has legally changed his full name to “Ye” and has officially dropped down to a one-syllable name and no longer using his middle or last name.
The Chicago rapper filed papers back in August to have his moniker changed.
The Donda rapper says his name is from a biblical reference meaning “You.”
“So it’s: I’m you, I’m us, it’s us,” he shared at the time per XXL. “It went from being Kanye, which means ‘The only one,’ to just ‘Ye,’ just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything. And I’m just more of a reflection of who we are. This is beings.”
Ye joins hip-hop mogul Diddy who also legally changed his name to “Love” back in May.
