Sha’Carri Richardson Receives Answer From International Olympics Committee
Sha’Carri Richardson’s complaint about Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has reached the International Olympics Committee and they have responded to the track star.
Richardson expressed her frustration over Valieva being able to compete in the Olympics after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Valieva was told, like Richardson, that she would not be able to compete, train, or participate in any events during the Beijing Winter Olympics.
“Can we get a solid answer on the difference of her situation and mines? My mother died and I can’t run and was also favored to place top 3,” the track star tweeted adding that race might be a factor in the treatment between the two athletes. “The only difference I see is I’m a black young lady.”

According to reports, the Olympic committee was unaware of Valieva’s positive result that she took back in December and it is only recently that those results have been shared publicly. However, the figure skater was suspended for a month upon learning about the positive test result.
“Richardson’s positive doping test was discovered on 19 June, and the result was received before the start of the Olympics. She was suspended for a month. There is nothing in common between these two cases,” the committee reportedly stated, per HotNewHipHop.
They added: “We, of course, are in touch with the team, her welfare is the team’s first priority, and obviously we are very careful of that but there’s only so much that we can do.”
