Netflix raised prices recently. Yesterday, they announced that they lost 200,000 subscribers. This is the first time they’ve lost users in a decade. They claim inflation and password sharing is to blame for the loss. To make up for their losses, they have also announced that they’re rolling out a CHEAPER version with ads. If you are okay with paying the monthly fee now, your service shouldn’t be affected. The cheaper version will be an alternative to the current fee. Netflix has always resisted the idea of an ad-supported version, but they’re embracing it now as a way of bringing in new subscribers. Plus they’re also seeing it work for competitors like Hulu and Peacock. The new version with ads isn’t expected to launch for another year or two.
