Megan Thee Stallion Details Tory Lanez Shooting Allegations
Megan Thee Stallion sat down with Gayle King on CBS Mornings to discuss the July 2020 shooting allegation against rapper Tory Lanez.
On Sunday (April 24), the talk show posted a one-minute clip of Megan recounting the traumatic event to King and how it all began, “It was an argument because I was ready to go and everybody else wasn’t ready to go, but that’s like normal friend stuff. We fuss about silly stuff all the time,” the rapper says. “But … I never put my hands on anybody, I never raised my voice too loud. This was one of them times where it shouldn’t have got this crazy.”
Megan went on to recall the exact moment when Lanez allegedly started firing and how he was positioned inside of the vehicle with the window rolled down at the time of the incident.
“So, I get out the car and it’s like, everything happens so fast,” she told King. “And all I hear is this man screaming, he said, ‘Dance, b—!’ And he started shooting. I’m just like, ‘Oh my God.’ He shot a couple of times.”
“I didn’t even want to move. I didn’t want to move too quick, ’cause I’m like, ‘Oh my God, if I take the wrong step, I don’t know if he could shoot something that’s super important, I don’t know if he could shoot me and kill me,’ ” she explained tearfully.
“I was really scared ’cause I had never been shot at before,” the “Plan B” rapper added.
Lanez was arrested at the time of the shooting and charged with carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He was later released on a $35,000 bail that same day. In October 2020 Lanez was charged with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
He has pleaded not guilty.
The latest update in the ongoing case between Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion occurred earlier this month when Lanez posted the $350,000 bail after being held in custody for violating Megan’s protective order and discussing any discovery of the case with any outside parties, People reports.
An additional condition has been added to Tory Lanez’s release terms, which prohibits him from mentioning “the complaining witness in this case in any social media.” The “complaining witness” can be presumed to be the “Sweetest Pie” rapper.
A trial date has been set for September 14, 2022.
