Johnny Depp’s days of starring in Pirates of the Caribbean appear to be over. Jerry Bruckheimer says there’s a female-led reboot in the works and Margo Robbie is in talks to star. Now we’ve pretty much known Johnny won’t be reprising his role due to what transpired in his trial with Amber Heard, however Bruckheimer confirmed they are taking the franchise in another direction. When asked whether or not Johnny would be back, Bruckheimer said “Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.” He was further asked whether there was any truth to the rumor that an all-female cast is being considered for a potential reboot, to which he responded, saying, “Yes. We are talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two Pirates scripts – one with her, and one without.”
