Who Would Get Engaged to R. Kelly???
Last week it was reported by L.A Times writer Kenan Draughorne that R. Kelly got engaged while serving a 30 year prison sentence. The person, who would get engaged to R. Kelly, is a woman named Joycelyn Savage. She is a R&B artist and actually stuck by him while he was on trail. Savage wrote a letter to the judge which states. “My name is Joycelyn Savage, and I’m Robert Kelly’s fiancé[e], I’m writing this letter in support of Robert in advance of his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be. My relationship with Robert is amazing,” Savage wrote. “He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We have a very special connection and are deeply in love. I still support Robert to this day because I love him and will always be here to support him. Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind. At the end of the day, he has always made sure that I’m taken care of, and any other women he was with as well.”
Why would someone get engaged to R. Kelly? What attracts someone to a prisoner? Are these types of people psychosocially unbalanced. ABC news reporter Rogene Fishe spoke with Psychologist Elaine Aron, author of The Highly Sensitive Person in Love. Aron argues that “some people may actually seek out relationships with prisoners because it fits their personality type. One such personality type may be the “highly sensitive person. ” Savage must be sensitive towards R. Kelly’s emotions or she could be psychosocially unbalance. I like the term “crazy” but who I’m I to judge. If she can find happiness with a man who was convicted for sex trafficking. Good for her. She is a better person then me.
