New Season of Power Book III: Raising Kannan Coming In Aug 14th
The new season of Power Book III: Raising Kannan is set to make a premier on Starz on August 14th. This season will be set in the year of 1993 and will explore Kannan’s return to Queens. If you remember, Kannan left Queens and was sent to North Carolina. Since he left Raquel “Raq” Thomas, who plays Kannan’s mother, has risen to prominence. She has become a successful drug dealer while Kannan was absent.
The star of the show has become Raq, who is played by Patina Miller. Miller is a Broadway actor. She recently did an interview with Vanity Fair and describes the difference between tv and Broadway. “I think the big learning curve for me going from Broadway to TV was sort of the technical side of it. You’re not playing for a thousand people when you’re on a [TV] set, you have to get the performance, and it’s a very up close and personal performance with cameras.”
The show is centered on Kannan who is a young 50 cent from Power. The story explains how Kannan grew up in his neighborhood of Queens. Raq steals the show. She is worth watching. Her performance is outstanding.
In the same Vanity Fair interview, she stated that you should expect the unexpected this year. “Every character is special within this world. I mean, it is really great TV. And you’re not ready for this second season because that was just the beginning. We were getting to know these characters and now relationships have been broken. Can we go back from that? You know, family is family. Will they come back together? Will they not? And we grapple a lot with that in the second season. All of the actions had consequences. Do you go back and what do you do? Will Raq stay on the throne or will she not stay on the throne? So, it’s pretty interesting. I’m excited for people to see.”
