Tory Lanez Found Guilty of Shooting Megan Thee Stallion
Tory Lanez has been found guilty of three felonies in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, per the Associated Press. The rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The counts could lead to up to 22 years in prison and he faces deportation to Canada. Lanez was reprimanded inside of the courtroom immediately.
After the verdict was read, his father, Sonstar Peterson, reportedly said, “This wicked system stands judged before God almighty!” He then turned to the two prosecutors and yelled, “You two are evil, wicked people. You know exactly what you did.”
During Megan’s testimony, she pointed to Lanez as the shooter who fired the handgun that left bullet fragments in her feet. She later needed surgery to remove the bullet fragments.
“The jury got it right,” Megan’s attorney Alex Spiro said. “I am thankful there is justice for Meg.”
Lanez’s sentencing will be determined on January 27.
