50 Cent is taking back the insensitive comment he made about Megan Thee Stallion. In a since-deleted post, the Power creator suggested that the rap artist was lying as he compared her to Empire actor Jussie Smollett in a meme. Smollett was found guilty last year of five counts of felony disorderly conduct related to the false report; he was acquitted on another similar count.

Megan fans were outraged with 50’s comments. While the usually unapologetic rapper rarely shows remorse for his behavior, he shocked everyone with his recent interview.

“I’m gonna apologize to Megan Thee Stallion,” said Fif per HotNewHipHop. “I said some things—and it was because on social media I posted things that, when she said, she was with [Gayle King]. She said, ‘Were you intimate with Tory Lanez?’ And she said, ‘What? No.’ I was like, ‘Ah, she lyin’.'”

Since he presumed Megan was lying about the Tory Lanez incident, he decided to just join in with the rest of the internet and continue to make fun of her.

“Little things would pop up and I wasn’t being supportive of her,” he added. “The only reason why I felt like I should apologize to her is because when I heard the phone conversation.” He was referring to the jail call between Lanez and Kelsey Harris that allegedly made rounds on social media. The call convinced him that Megan was telling the truth.

As for the Tory Lanez trial, the Toronto native will be sentenced on Feb. 28 after he replaced his previous attorneys, George Mgdesyan and Shawn Holley, with David Kenner and Matthew Barhoma. The rapper’s team is looking to get another trial. “We look forward to litigating the motion for a new trial,” Kenner told reporters following the hearing. “We are very confident.”

Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was found guilty of three felonies in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, per the Associated Press. He was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The counts could lead to up to 22 years in prison and he faces deportation to Canada.
