Study: Wealth is Leaving Massachusetts at an Alarming Rate
A new study revealed a worrisome trend for the Bay State: Massachusetts is losing residents due to taxation. Pioneer Institute released its new study Monday which shows how out-migration of wealth in Massachusetts has quintupled from 2012 to 2021.
The report notes that Massachusetts residents who earn $200,000 or more per year have been moving away from the state faster since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in 60% of Massachusetts lost wealth.
The study used IRS data to show how Massachusetts went from ninth to fourth among states losing population. The only states currently losing their population faster than Mass are California, New York and Illinois.
So we may have less and less people, but we have PLENTY of Dunkin’ locations to go around! Ever wonder what towns have to most/least?:
