If you want to live longer, it may be a good idea to move to this Massachusetts city. The good thing is, it's not very far away. The website greatgreenwall.org has come out with a study and has determined that Newton, Massachusetts is America's "Well Being Capital!" In other words, Newton, Massachusetts is America's healthiest city.  Before you start packing up your belongings and calling a mover, let's take a look at how this was determined and what type of statistics were analyzed.

The study looked at 562 cities and towns that are part of metropolitan areas. 34 factors were studied and they were placed under three umbrellas: health, happiness and prosperity. Newton scored #1 in 7 of those categories including health insurance. Other areas where Newton was a top finisher was heart disease, kidney and pulminary diseases.  One area where Newton outscored every other American city is in strokes. Newton has the lowest amount of stroke incidents with 1.7%.  Only 2% of people who live in Newton have a chronic disease.

Two more Massachusetts cities also ended up on this list. Cambridge landed at #4 which is a very respectable number. However, on the other end of the spectrum, Springfield landed at the very bottom of the list, ranking the absolute lowest for well-being in Massachusetts.

What are the circumstances behind health in Newton? A Reddit thread was created discussing this very topic and many details being discussed were: money and higher education. Many people who live in Newton have higher income and the education system in Newton is top notch. One Reddit user even said "When you're rich, life aint so hard." Whether you agree or not, the statistics don't lie.

If you live in Newton, we'd love to hear from you. Do you find life is happier and healthier living there? Either way, consider yourself very lucky and extremely happy. Great job Newton!
