“Save A Moving Rental Truck Today” Stopping Boston “Storrowing” With A Song
Welcome to Boston students! What a great place to be if you’re returning, or if you’re new to the city. This is for the newbies. A warning if you’re coming in a moving truck. Don’t get “Storrowed!”
What the heck is “storrowing?”
Every year during late summer/early fall, students pack their belongings into a moving truck. Unfortunately, there are always a few that don’t make it to their destination unscathed. Despite signs everywhere warning about low clearance, but some drivers just keep it moving. You get stuck and the top of the truck rips off like a tin can. They’ve been “storrowed.”
Avoid getting “storrowed”
Here are some simple and obvious ways to keep from getting stuck. Number one, plan your route ahead of time. If you can, avoid Storrow Drive if it’s at all possible. Number two, pay attention to the signs and make sure you are checking those height limits. And this isn’t just for Storrow Drive. It includes other areas like: Memorial Drive in Boston and Soldiers Field Road in Cambridge. In addition, I didn’t know this, but there are apps you can download that are specifically for people driving trucks. They help with not only planning routes, but help with avoiding low bridges, and other non-truck-friendly routes. Try these – Sygic Truck Navigation (free), Copilot Truck (14 days free) or SmartTruckRoute (2-days free).
The DCR releases a special warning
Sometimes signs just aren’t enough, and people need something to remind them that they’re not going to make it under that bridge. Well, the DCR (The Department of Conservation and Recreation) decided that after years of warnings not working, they needed to try something different. In this case, they used Sarah McLaughlin’s song Angel, best known for the ASPCA commercial. Using the song in the background, the DCR released this PSA.
