The Massachusetts Theaters Celebrating National Cinema Day With $4 Movies on Sunday

We all love movies! What do we love even more? Inexpensive movie tickets. It's almost here. National Cinema Day is on Sunday and that means you can go to the movies for only $4 dollars. What a deal.

This year is the second year of National Cinema Day, a day where The Cinema Foundation works to get more people to get back into the theater. To do that, on Sunday, August 27th, 3,000 movie theaters across the country are offering tickets for just $4 dollars. The Cinema Foundation is a nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Theater Owners, whose mission is to, "advance the moviegoing experience, by developing future diverse workforces and moviegoing communities through research, education, and philanthropy."

The new Barbie movie? Yes! Oppenheimer? Yup! What about The Little Mermaid? You got it! Anything that's playing in theaters is fair game.

Some theaters are actually having some specials with their concessions. We all know that a $4 ticket is great, but if you are getting any snacks, you might as well have stayed home. AMC Theaters is offering a $5 dollar small popcorn and drink combo. It doesn't include tax, and it's for all day, all shows. Regal Cinemas will match that $4 ticket with a $4 dollar small popcorn and drink combo.

Plus, some theaters are even throwing in special promos on their concessions. AMC Theaters, for instance, will offer $5 small popcorn and drink combos (tax not included) all day. Regal is one-upping its competitor with a small popcorn + drink combo option that will cost $4.

OK, this is so 80s. It's peach. It's BIG. It comes with with a SHAWL. Peaches and Cream Barbie was PROM QUEEN.

This Barbie doll was like the friend who was the last to go to bed at a sleepover. When you placed her on the Barbie shelf in your room and shut the lights off, HER DRESSED GLOWED WITH STARS. She was the pal who said at midnight when you've already had too much to drink: "What about a FINAL final?"

She has a cape! She moves all by herself! She's PASTEL! I didn't have this Barbie, and now I'm going to take it up with my parents.

The heart dress made this doll. But also? The little stamp sticker that would leave a kiss mark on little notes. Not as much of a kissing bandit as the Kissing Barbie - see below - but she was up for a good time.

Oh my GOD. Loving You Barbie was the kissing BANDIT of Barbies. I loved this doll. The lipstick dress, the button in the back that made her make out, the SWAK lip prints. ICONIC.

Wait, what? I did not have this Dolly-Parton-Meets-Urban-Cowboy wonder. And now I'm mad. That Farrah-Fawcett do just makes me want to go find this and buy it and live out my Rhinestone Cowboy dreams.

Ah, when you were little and work seemed glamorous and fun and you dressed up and felt important and powerful. This doll was more unrealistic than Barbie's measurements. Today's Day to Night Barbie would just change take off her bra after a day on zoom and working from the corner of her bedroom.
