Beyoncé Brings Out Kendrick Lamar & Diana Ross Surprise During LA Birthday Show
Bryonce fans were in for a treat during her Renaissance birthday show in Los Angeles on (Sept. 4 ). The singer brought out Kendrick Lamar during the show. Also, she was surprised by the legendary Diana Ross who appeared onstage. Kendrick and Beyoncé performed their “America Has A Problem” remix for the first time. The Renaissance creator released the song back in June. However, during the performance, according to fan videos, there was a technical issue that prevented Kendrick from fully performing as his mic didn’t seem to work.
Kendrick’s appearance was not the only surprise of the night. Diana Ross (and 60,000 of Beyoncé’s fans) sung “happy birthday” to the star.
Beyoncé began the Renaissance Tour in May and has been to Paris, Stockholm, London, and more before making her way to the United States. She has since hit cities including Boston, Chicago, Miami, New Jersey, and more. This is Beyonce’s first tour since her 2018 On The Run II Tour with Jay-Z for their album Everything Is Love. It is also her first solo tour since 2016, when she toured for Lemonade.
While Beyoncé has never collaborated with Diana Ross in the studio, she has worked with Kendrick several times. The first time was on her 2016 Lemonade album with the song “Freedom.” They later collaborated in 2019 for The Lion King soundtrack for “NILE.” Their latest is “America Has A Problem,” remix which was dropped in June without warning.
Renaissance dropped in July 2022 and prior to the release of the album, Beyoncé announced on her website that the album is act one out of three acts. It is unclear what the other acts will be, but it is rumored that a visual album to accompany the project is “done.”
According to Above The Line, “It’s a visual album movie, but it’s like an art film, and I’ve also heard it’s better than Black Is King,” a source said.
