Summer may be winding down, but the evening weather still allows for some outdoor nightlife. Enjoy Travel recently recognized the best rooftop bars in America and a Boston establishment made the list.
“The United States is brimming with brilliant rooftop bars,” Enjoy Travel exclaims. Furthermore, these spots typically provide a unique atmosphere experience unlike many other bars in the surrounding area.
Most patrons visit a rooftop bar mainly because of the views it provides as opposed to a particular menu item. On a nice spring, summer, or fall night, a gathering on a roof will is sure to be a great time. In Enjoy Travel’s feature, each of the 25 roof bars they list is located within a major city. At sundown, these establishments enable you to appreciate your city’s views fully. From lookouts over waterfronts to skyline lights to beautiful panoramas, the right rooftop bar makes you feel like you are in the middle of the cities postcard. In Boston, a rooftop bar that was named is one of the best is part of a hotel.
Lookout
The appropriately named bar is located on the roof of the Envoy Hotel in the Seaport area. That is where you will find Lookout Rooftop Bar. The layout includes lounge-style couches and high-top stools along the edges. In addition, Lookout stays open most of the year. “During the winter, they set up snuggly igloos to keep it cozy, while in the summer, you can enjoy the sun-filled patio,” Enjoy Travel explains.
This spot in Boston was also featured in TimeOut’s list. TimeOut said, “The expansive skyline and sunset views alone are worth the often lengthy waits at both the elevator and the bar.” If you’ve been there, you’ll likely agree.
Lookout is open nightly until 11:30 p.m. They offer a full menu of beer, wine, and spirits.
Massachusetts: Local Street Art Is Getting National Exposure
A New Bedford, Massachusetts street art display is now getting national attention by being published in a book by Simon & Schuster.
On the Wall Posters: Street Art is described as a one-of-a-kind collection of posters, all from local artists. This book showcases 30 graffiti and street mural-inspired wall posters. Furthermore, it is all from the local mural art project, Superflat NB.
Founded in 2017, Superflat NB works directly with New Bedford’s residents and other artists around the world. Together, they are creating transformative public art. The collection of posters they will be publishing into a colorful book will bring these art pieces to life. In fact, you can now insert them right into your home.
What Superflat means
Japanese contemporary artist, “Takashi Murakami coined the term to express spatial compression and the blending of high and low art in his own work.” Superflat NB explains via their website. “Surperflat NB will provide access to the arts by directly engaging New Bedford’s youth, artists, and its residents in the ideation and creation of transformative public art through the traditions of mural-making,” they conclude. Their aim is to revitalize the city of New Bedford by inspiring youth with this creative outlet. In addition, their murals will bring national artists’ work into the community.
