Ice Spice Confirms New Project ‘Y2K’
Ice Spice has confirmed that a new project is on the way. Y2K doesn’t have a release month or day but the Bronx native promised it will be released this year.
“Yes, there’s gonna be an album,” Ice Spice told co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on The Today Show. “I’m so excited.”
She added that she has “a crazy collaboration that just got locked in, like two days ago.”
Ice Spice told Kotb and Bush Hager the meaning behind the title, which stands for “year 2000,” the same year the Bronx MC was born on January 1, 2000, at the turn of the millennium.
The “Princess Diana” rapper previously teased Y2K back in November. She posted a photo of herself with a tattoo on her lower back and the caption “?/?/24.”
Ice Spice Drops “Think You The S— (Fart)”
So far this year we’ve already gotten a new single from the rapper. She released “Think You The S— (Fart)” last Friday (Jan. 26). Fans believed that she came for Latto on the new track with the lyrics: “I got my foot on they necks, I can’t let up/ She all on the floor, told her get up,” she raps, seemingly referencing the Atlanta native’s “Put It On Da Floor.”
This is not the first time Ice Spice has seemingly referenced Latto in a song. On “How High?” the Bronx native rapped, “Now she all on the floor when I kick in the door/ How you mad I do less ’cause you gotta do more?”
She made seemingly another reference to Latto on “Butterfly Ku,” as well. “Where she at? On the floor/ She gettin’ money, but I’m gettin’ more,” she raps in the song.
Next up for Ice Spice is the Grammys, where she is nominated for three awards. She and Nicki’s “Barbie World” is nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Song Written For Visual Media. She is also nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her feature on Taylor Swift’s “Karma.”
