J. Cole Gives Update On New Album

J. Cole has updated fans on his highly anticipated album, The Fall Off. During the opening night for the It’s All a Blur – Big as the What? tour, the rapper announced it’s almost ready.

This news follows Cole’s second Grammy win for Best Melodic Rap Performance for “All My Life” with Lil Durk. Cole’s first Grammy win was Best Rap Song for his feature on 21 Savage’s “A Lot,” in 2020.

J. Cole Teases The Fall Off

J. Cole had an epic feature run in 2023, which included collaborations with Drake, Lil Yachty, Lil Durk, Summer Walker, and more. In his first collaboration of 2023, he teased The Fall Off on “To Summer From Cole (Audio Hug).”

“I’m thinkin’ about ya, I heard you just had you another lil baby/ Congratulations, I hope you got through it with no complications/ I find it amazing, the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame, the bitches that’s hatin’/ They sit around waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making,” he raps.

While fans might have heard the mention of The Fall Off for the first time on “To Summer From Cole (Audio Hug),” others know that this has been a long-awaited project.

Cole’s last studio album before he drops the mic for good. Before The Fall Off is to be released, Cole has a lineup of projects that will eventually lead to the last album.   One of J. Cole’s first mentions of The Fall Off is from 2018 on “1985.” While he doesn’t mention the forthcoming album in the lyrics, he mentions it in the subtitle of the song. The full name of the song is “1985 (Intro To The Fall Off)” seemingly marking the beginning to the end. The song closes out Cole’s 2018 album KOD.

  While it was three years since Cole mentioned The Fall Off, there was no subtitling like he did in 2018. In the song, “my.life” Cole gives fans a direct response to the album. “After The Fall Off, I promise I’m comin’ and sellin’ out Wrigley’s,” Cole raps referring to his album and the Chicago Major League Baseball field. Although Cole mentions the album he doesn’t give any clarity to fans on what or when to expect the project. “my.life” was nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance in 2022.
