Iconic Regent Theater in Massachusetts Looking for New Owner
Regent Theater in Arlington is looking for a new owner. Are you up for the spotlight?
After three decades of bringing joy and culture to Boston and beyond, the big boss of Medford Street Theater, the folks behind Arlington’s historic Regent Theatre, is calling it quits.
Richard Stavros wants to kick back and explore new adventures. But the show must go on.
He’s on the hunt for someone or some folks eager to keep the Regent rocking with its unique blend of concerts and flicks.
Why is the Regent Theater in Arlington Looking For a New Owner?
Stavros has been steering the Regent ship since 1993, and now he’s ready to hand over the reins to someone who’ll keep the theater’s rich history alive and kicking, staying true to its roots as a cultural hotspot in the community.
Back in 1916, when flapper dresses were all the rage, the Regent was born. It wasn’t just a theater; it had it all – stores, offices, and even a bowling alley downstairs.
Fast forward 108 years, and this joint’s still standing tall, hosting everything from live gigs to movie marathons, keeping locals and out-of-towners alike entertained.
“Back in ’93, when the building’s previous owner was scratching his head, wondering what to do with the place, I swooped in with a wild idea: let’s turn this movie joint into a Performing Arts Center. And voila, history was made,” Stavros said in a press release.
Then along came Gary Adelson, a real estate whiz and a blues band drummer. With Stavros and his partner Leland Stein, they turned the Regent into the go-to spot for the performing arts crowd.
Nowadays, it’s not just about catching the latest indie flick. The Regent’s a 460-seat powerhouse, hosting live music, theater, comedy, and dance gigs. Oh, and did we mention they’ve got beer and wine?
Stavros and Stein weren’t content with resting on their laurels. Nope, they rolled up their sleeves and gave the place a facelift in 2022. New stage floor? Check. State-of-the-art sound and lights? Double check.
This place is ready to rock for another century.
And let’s not forget the talent that’s graced the Regent Theater in Arlington’s stage over the years. From Joe Bonamassa to the Dresden Dolls, this joint’s seen it all. It’s not just a theater; it’s a hall of fame for artists near and far.
But now it’s time for a changing of the guard. Stavros isn’t just handing over the keys; he’s looking for someone who’s as passionate about the arts and the community as he is.
The new owner will snag the lease, the basement rehearsal space, and all the good vibes that come with the Regent brand.
Stein chimes in, “It’s been a blast helping shape the Regent Theater in Arlington vibe over the past couple of decades. And we’re not done yet. Here’s to the next chapter!”
Adelson adds, “Finding the right person to take the wheel is crucial. We’re looking for someone who’ll keep the Regent’s legacy alive and kicking well into the 21st century.”
